Program Options


Center Base Option

  • The center based program provides high quality early care and education for eligible families with children ages birth to three years in a classroom type setting at the Early Head Start Center in Dickinson.
  • Parents must be working or in school a minimum of 30 hours per week.

The Early Head Start Center was opened in November of 2012. The center has three classrooms and twenty-four children enrolled. The Early Head Start Center has a low child to staff ratio (4:1). Each classroom has two lead teachers for eight children.

The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:50 am to 3:30 pm.

Home Base Option

The Home Based option provides an In Home Family Specialist who goes into the home and works directly with the parent/guardian to plan weekly activities individualized for the child. This option is available in eight counties (Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger, Slope, and Stark). They engage parent’s in their child’s learning and development by providing family-friendly activities in the home to promote and strengthen parent-child interactions.

Region-VIII-Map

Socializations – These families meet together within their communities twice a month to provide socialization opportunities for the home base children and training opportunities for the parents/guardians.

Expectant Mothers

The Early Head Start program enrolls expectant mothers and provides them with education and resources to prepare for the birth of their infant.
